Long Beach Civic Center

Arup provided financial, procurement, and commercial advisory services as well as technical consulting for the Long Beach Civic Center, a cluster of civic buildings with 600,000 gross square feet and 1,500 parking spaces. The owner, the City of Long Beach, desired continuity of operations after a major earthquake and thus elected to incorporate REDi Gold objectives in the original RFP. Arup guided the owner and design team in implementing the resilience-based design criteria outlined in the REDi Rating System to achieve immediate re-occupancy and full functionality within approximately 30 days after a large magnitude earthquake on a local fault.
